| How is the One Stitch method different from traditional quilting?
The One Stitch method combines the two basic processes of piecing and quilting to eliminate many of the steps in traditional patchwork. There is no quarter-inch piecing in One Stitch, instead it is replaced by over-lapped folded strips on top of a pre-printed fusible grid. Stitching down the strips through the batting and backing at the same time eliminates the need to piece a top before quilting. A fold-over backing completes the outside edges of all but the largest projects eliminating the need for a separate binding strip.
Why is it important to use the grid when making a One Stitch project?
The grid is the foundation for a One Stitch project. By using the grid, you are able to accurately place your squares and strips onto the batting and build your quilt design without having to use a ruler or square. The grid speeds up the laying out process and makes it easy to create a beautiful One Stitch quilt quickly.
What is Art to Sew?
Art to Sew is a special process of transferring art to fabric. The Art to Sew process uses a digital printing technique that allows all of the colors of the artwork to be transferred to the fabric instead of the usual 16 colors that are used in regular fabric printing. The art is printed on 120 thread count cotton. The Art to Sew squares used in One Stitch Quilting look as if Donna has painted each and every square.
